Biography:
Jackie (McDonald) Tarbell grew up on the Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation in Upstate New York. She was enticed into the world of racing when her husband, Eugene, became interested in ice drag racing snowmobiles. She enjoyed the time they spent together in the garage and on the frozen St. Regis River testing different set ups to make the sleds go faster.
The family quickly evolved from ice drag racing snowmobiles to RC (Radio Control) Car racing where she was photographer for the promoter on awards nights. Jackie helped the team by showing support to the family members, who were all racing their own individual RC Cars (Eugene, George, Claudia and Bradley). As the team evolved into Bandit Car Racing she took on the role of organizer to keep the team running as smoothly as possible. Jackie supports the family race team by running errands, buying racing supplies, verifying heat line-ups and keeping track of race gear while the team members focus on their jobs of racing, driving and mechanics.
Jackie has been an Elementary School teacher at the local St. Regis Mohawk School located in the community of Akwesasne for 11 years. She went back to university when she was in her 30’s to earn her Master’s degree in Education. This was a challenge with three children at home and an Ironworker husband who traveled all over the country as part of his occupation. With the support of her family she graduated in 1993. In 1994, with the creation of the Lonewolf Racing Team, racing became the life and passion of the family. She is a proud member of this amazing team, which as an Indigenous organization consists of international representatives of the community of Akwesasne, both in the United States and Canada. Jackie aspires to support and assist her family to achieve their dream of racing success by continuing to advance the Team as a business and as role models for young Mohawks (male and female) interested in the sport of racing.
